Informatie
Modis Aerospace is a specialized Engineering consultancy with more than 30 years’ experience providing aerospace Engineers to our key partners in The Netherlands. Modis is a long-standing business partner of the European Space Agency (ESA), with more than 120 employees recruited from across Europe currently supporting ESA’s activities.
About ESA-ESTEC
The European Space Agency (ESA) has sites in several European countries. The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the largest site and the technical heart of ESA. This nursery of European space activities is located in Noordwijk, Netherlands.
At ESTEC, about 2500 engineers, technicians and scientists work hands-on with mission design, spacecraft and space technology.
Almost all ESA projects - except launchers - are managed from ESTEC. In Noordwijk, people work on science missions, manned space missions, Earth observation, telecommunications and navigation satellites.
ESTEC provides extensive testing facilities to verify the proper operation of spacecraft, such as the Large Space Simulator (LSS), acoustic and electromagnetic testing bays, multi-axis vibration tables and the ESA Propulsion Laboratory (EPL).

We are looking for a Copernicus End-to-End Performance Chain Coordinator (E3) to join our Modis Aerospace team, supporting the European Space Agency in the Netherlands.
The scope of this role is to coordinate and follow the development of the end-to-end Performance Chains ensuring a common approach and usage of common methods and tools. These missions are CO2M, CHIME, LSTM, CRISTAL, CIMR and ROSE-L.
Each E2E Performance Chain is typically composed of a chain of software components, including:
• Scenes Generator
• Instrument Simulator
• Level-1 Processor Prototype
• Level-2 Processor Prototype
• Other complementary tools for e.g. data analysis/reporting
Specific tasks to be performed:
The tasks to be performed are, in support to the Copernicus Office management and the scoped missions Space Segment management:
1. Overall coordination of HPCMs E2E Performance Chains development
• Coordinate and define the work plan and schedule for the development of the E2E Performance Chains for all payloads of the scoped missions
• Elaborate the resources plan in support of the above work plan, in cooperation with the HPCMs Space Segment Management and the System Support Division Managment
• Ensure coherent execution of the work plan across all scoped missions
• Ensure usage of common methods and tools where appropriate, in cooperation with the System Support Division Management
• Coordinate with EOP-S on the SW, interface and infrastructure aspects of scientific Scene Generator and Level 2 Processor Prototype procurement to ensure overall compatibility and coherence of the chain.
2. CRISTAL E2E Performance Chain development
• Contribute to the overall specification of the E2E Mission Performance Chain and its components (from Scene Generation up to Level-2);
• Support setting up, and monitor, the implementation of the chain components developed through (an) ESA contract(s) with industry;
• Support setting up, and monitor, the implementation of the chain components developed in-house, if any;
• Ensure coherence with the Space Segment, in particular between flight hardware and simulator;
• Ensure proper integration of all the implemented components in an overall E2E Mission Performance chain, its installation, maintenance and operations in Estec;
• Ensure that the E2E Performance Chain and its components and algorithms meet the required functionality and performance, taking into account system, instrument, geophysical model and calibration/validation facility aspects;
• Analyse impacts on the mission performance resulting from deviations during the development programme;
• Ensure the proper verification and validation methods are proposed and implemented;
• Support Test Data production and verification;
• Support the analysis of the data collected during on-ground and in-orbit calibration and characterisation campaigns;
3. Other E2E Performance Chains development
• Contribute to any preparatory work for the other HPCMs Performace Chains; the eventual tasks for those will be identical to the CRISTAL in Task 2 above.
4. EOP transversal activities
• Support the standardisation and the harmonisation between the E2E Mission Performance Simulator chains and related Products between all scoped missions as well as with the current EOP-P technical baseline for these systems;
• Contribute to the activities within the System Support Division of maintenance and evolution of the E2E Mission Performance Chain Reference architecture, requirement template and best practices;
