Based on SWP HQ formulated strategies for technology and product development the manager will be responsible of translating these into development projects and build/recruit/manage team competencies and structures that will:
- Plan and deliver proven new technology solutions within the domain of electrical machine topologies.
- Plan and deliver complete generator mechanical solutions that fulfill product requirements by applying best practice design practice.
- Prove product robustness at all levels documented by full scale performance tests, and structural tests that demonstrate 25 years design life time, both at system level and subcomponent levels.
- Interface with local procurement in setting up suppliers developing processes that will baseline quality deliveries of supply for SWP’s assembly locations.
- Implement SWP EN NPD design processes and related project management structure.
- Implement Siemens PMP process,
- Innovate through our Lean Mindset
- Foster learning across all disciplines
- Further develop Generator Design Manual and best practice methods.
- Ensure tight interfaces and communication at all levels and disciplines with SWP Denmark HQ.
- Plan, execute based on Visual Planning and Production Boards
- Report results and progress in a consistent well documented format at all levels.
Year one success criteria:
- Recruitment of key staff competencies in all mechanical engineering disciplines.
- Integrate with turbine projects and generator team at SWP DK. Integrate with S2WP electromagnetic team.
- Implement all Siemens and SWP processes
- Establish interface with local/regional universities, formulate & execute key technology projects including funding w. NWIP etc.
- Deliver mechanical design concept for next generation 6 MW offshore turbine generators based on novel topology developed by S2WP electromagnetic team.
- Innovative solutions that will lead to 10+ invention disclosures.
- Build peer relations with Keele, Brande, HR, IT and Siemens Real Estate.
The manager poses natural personal authority and integrity, rooted in a high personal energy and drive, and has extensive people management skills with experience in managing and motivating a highly skilled staff, understanding the importance of fostering leaning and innovation in multicultural technical teams.

The manager has experience from large organizations working in a global environment in planning and execution of complex product development. The manger can implement roadmap strategies on technologies and product solutions into commercial viable solutions with defined key targets and success criteria.
The manager will have numerous years of industrial experience in managing a number of highly skilled mechanical design engineers, draftsmen, 2D/3D CAD designers, within the disciplines of rotating electrical machine design, including:
Load carrying structure (main bearing, casted shaft)
Stator plate, stator and coil system, bus-bar system
Rotor-house and magnet system
Brake disk and hydraulics design
Thermal modeling and cooling design, 3D CFD modeling
Sensor system for condition monitoring
Noise and vibration analysis based on modal FE
Test and validation, performance - and structural lifetime test, robustness test
Integration with power converters and their control systems
Turbine integration and field tests
Design for manufacturing
Advanced procurement engineering with sub suppliers
A master’s degree in mechanical design, preferable with a PhD extension including some of the above listed disciplines.
