Dow Seeds is the Seeds trade mark of Dow AgroSciences, a daughter company of THE DOW CHEMICAL COMPANY. Dow Seeds develops under this trade mark high performing corn, rape and sunflower varieties for the European market as well as new innovative products such as healthy oils.  

We‘re looking for a  

Manufacturing Leader (m/f) Dow Seeds Europe

to be located in Rastatt (Germany) - near Baden-Baden    

The incumbent has overall responsibility and accountability for all internal and external pre-commercial and commercial seed production and processing activities for all crops in Europe. Special focus is expected on Commercial Seed Production in Central and expected growth in Eastern Europe. Travel requirements will be high and across Central and Eastern Europe mostly. Extended trips to Russia or Ukraine will be required    

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Manufacturing team of Dow Seeds Europe in all aspects of global and local business strategy and functional alignment, with strong focus on Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S).
• Establish annual supply plans for all commercial crops grown in Europe by working closely with all appropriate functions, e.g. Supply Chain, Pre-Commercial, Sales and Marketing.
• Manage all aspects of the Central and Eastern European seed production program, including proper execution and monitoring of the Seed Production
• Agreements, developing good working relationship with seed producers, inventory management, logistical processes, and financial accountability for cost of goods.
• Manage prime controllable costs
• Closely cooperate with the Quality Dept on seed quality.
• Responsible to meet the Produce-to-Plan objectives
• Identify improvement opportunities and participate on Cost to Serve/6 Sigma projects

• B.S. in agricultural-related studies or similar degree
• Extensive experience in Seed Production in Central or Eastern European geographies
• Demonstrated personal leadership, interpersonal effectiveness, and organizational skills; Ability to take personal initiative and work effectively in teams
• Excellent Project Management skills
• In-depth understanding of seed sourcing options and the quality, reliability, cost and product performance requirements as needed.
• Understanding of quality and customer requirements
• Languages: English and Russian is mandatory. Hungarian or German is a benefit.
