(Senior) Machine Learning Engineer - AI & Innovative Technologies

The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Directorate – Corporate Services (CS) – Information Technology (IT) – Enterprise Architecture Unit (ARCH) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Machine Learning Engineer - AI & Innovative Technologies. This is a full time position at grade 5/6.

Panel interviews are anticipated for beginning of December.

The term of this contract is 4 years.

The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, according to business needs, with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract, subject to organisational requirements and individual performance.

Purpose

As (Senior) Machine Learning Engineer - AI & Innovative Technologies - (internally referred to as (Senior) Engineer IT Technology & Infrastructure), you will be responsible for the definition, design and build of solutions in the digital transformation projects area, especially in the domain of Artificial Intelligence. In this context, you will be driving the research and piloting innovative technologies to streamline and optimise EIB business processes.

Operating Network

In close collaboration with the Head of Enterprise Architecture Unit and other services, you will propose the most suitable technologies and evaluate those in practical pilot settings. You will measure benefits and suitability and present outcomes to both IT management and the business with a view to turning these pilots into concrete projects, in which you will act as a solution architect.

You will report to the Head of Unit and closely collaborate with senior managers across the business and IT.

Accountabilities

• Research, pilot and propose innovative solutions conducting evaluations and studies in the area of artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud and others essential for digital transformation
• Identify solutions in accordance with Enterprise Architecture guidelines and industry standards to ensure their long-term cost-effectiveness, business value, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and scalability
• Act as technical expert and provide subject matter expertise and specialised advice to improve the efficiency of the systems
• Keep up to date with new market trends and propose innovative approaches to maximise IT’s contribution to the digital transformation
• Write and submit Project Initiation Requests and Project Charters implementing new initiatives to deliver additional value to the business and keeping the stakeholders informed on the progress of respective solutions
• Acts as a solution architect for digital transformation and innovation projects
• Define best practices and guidelines for design, development, documentation, and testing in relevant fields as well as coaching of internal and external developers
• Maintain close contact with vendors to identify new opportunities and future evolutions
• Provide information, transfer knowledge, conduct presentations to facilitate and actively promote awareness on the adoption and efficient use of new innovative solutions, act as a technology evangelist.

Qualifications

• University degree (Master's working and thinking level) in Engineering, Information Technology, Information Management or related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in innovative software solutions of which at least 3 years in practical implementation of machine-learning systems.
• Proven experience and technical knowledge of tools and architecture of machine-learning, web services, API management, cloud and micro services.
• Broad and deep experience working with varied software development platforms and environments including Python, Linux and/or Windows.
• Ability to conduct hands-on Proof of Concept (PoC) work to assess comprehensively applicability and impact of technology choices.
• Excellent presentation skills with ability to influence stakeholders
• Ability to provide clear, concise technical guidance to IT Teams while delivering comprehensive status updates to management and business users.
• Experience with agile methodologies, routines, and tools.
• Knowledge of enablement technologies, such as Anaconda, Git and data management.
• Additional experience with blockchain would be considered an advantage,
• Very good knowledge of English and/or French with a solid understanding of the other (**)
