To expand and strengthen our team for the 3 x 300 MV Puttalam Coal Power Project in Sri Lanka, we are seeking a Site Mechanical Engineer cum Deputy Site Manager
Your main responsibilities:
- Act as the site mechanical engineer in the joint Pöyry/CEB`s site supervision team
- Act as the deputy site manager to Pöyry`s resident project/site manager and fulfil his duties during his absences
- Monitor and inspect mechanical erection/installation/commissioning activities of the contractor
- Review and approve contractor's mechanical erection/installation/precommissioning work method statements
- Review and approve the proposed mechanical test procedures for materials/equipment/plant to be tested on site by the contractor. Witness such tests and review the related test reports
- Monitor and verify contractors`s progress in the mechanical site works for the purpose of progress payments
- Attend the regular site coordination meetings with the contractor and CEB
- Prepare the regular progress reports for the mechanical site works as required by the project/site manager
- Maintain records for the mechanical works of contractual claims and variations
- Review the mechanical part of the O&M manuals submitted by the contractor
- Review the mechanical as-built documents submitted by the contractor
Your profile
- Background in mechanical engineering, preferred are several years of experience in design and /or manufacturing of main components of thermal power plants
- Minimum 10 years of field experience in the position as site mechanical engineer in large thermal (preferably coal fired, otherwise CCPP) power plants projects, or as commissioning and startup engineer
- Good team player, self-motivation and social competences
- Good working knowledge of MS Office software tools
- Skilled in preparation of site correspondence and reports
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
- Readiness to relocate to the plant site in Sri Lanka (135 km north of Colombo)
