Job Mission
This position will service and upgrade the electronics on existing optical components and computer controls.  This role will use the applicants ability to evaluate and repair specialized electronics, computer controls, and PLCs to support the operation and performance precision optical coating equipment.

Reports to Optical Coating Process and Equipment Manager, works together with other depatments within Manufacturing, Logistics, Procurement, D&E, Industrial Engineering, and Customer Support. 

Job Description
This position will support, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, upgrade, rebuild, and install coating control equipment in the Optical Coating Department.  The employee will also be required to use their experience and knowledge to identify preventative actions to improve equipment performance.  Some specific responsibilities include trouble shooting electrical, mechanical, and vacuum process equipment in order to assist and direct other team members.  Performance of these tasks will require interpretation electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and engineering documents.

Accountabilities:
  • Ability to follow all company safety regulations.
  • Ability to work safely around fragile, high value optics.
  • Extensive knowledge of electronics troubleshooting and repair.
  • Knowledge of, and troubleshooting of, computer controls and PLC operation.
  • Experience with high voltage circuitry.
  • Assist the maintenance team and technicians with daily tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and procedures.
  • Ability to identify production and safety issues and communicate them effectively.
  • Candidate will be required to wear PPE where required


Education
Advanced degree in a technical background; Engineering, Manufacturing, Equipment Service, or equivalent experience. 

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in supporting and repairing highly technical equipment.
  • Highly competent in electronics circuitry, schematic interpretation, and troubleshooting.
  • Extensive computer skills and knowledge of computer system controls.
  • Familiarity with Windows 7, MS Office & SAP. Personal skills-Strong analytical skills – capable of translating requirements into executable schedule.
  • Cross train and support cross functional groups.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate one on one and in small groups to operators, management and engineers.
