TAQA Energy is involved in the exploration, production, transportation and storage of oil and natural gas in the Netherlands. As a 100% subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), an independent water and power company with the state of Abu Dhabi being its major shareholder, TAQA Energy B.V. together with TAQA's subsidiary company in the United Kingdom, acts as a vehicle for growth in Europe. TAQA Energy operates on and offshore prodution installations and the Alkmaar Peak Gas Installation (PGI) which stores and delivers gas to the Dutch national grid to help meet high demand for energy during the winter months. Together with the Dutch state TAQA is investing €800 million in realizing the Bergermeer Gas Storage facility, Europe's most advanced and largest third party access gas storage facility. Consutruction for this facility has started in the Alkmaar area. Once complete it will provide a reliable seasonal supply of natural gas and form part of a broader energy infrastructure for North West Europe.

Description

The Trainee Well Engineer is a team member of the Well Engineering Department and will assist the team with all aspects of well design and planning while learning on the job and in the classroom. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Rig site

• Learn on the job by witnessing the drilling and completion operations;
• Learn on the job by witnessing well services operations;
• Assist the TAQA company representative with timely and correct reporting of operation. 

Office

• Responsible for administration of well files and correspondence;
• Learn in class room trining the various subjects of well engineering;
• Implement learning's by assisting well engineer with well planning and execution of operations.

HSSE

• Assist the Well Engineers in implementing the HSSE systems;
• Observe all company Health, Safety, Security and Environmental instructions, act in a safe manner and avoid unnecessary risks to personnel;
• Immediately report any unsafe conditions or activities, dangerous occurrences or injuries in the workplace. 

Business Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor degree from a recognized technical university (HTS)
• Affinity with the Oil & Gas industry;
• Flexibility to work in the Netherlands and possible on overseas assignments;
• Flexibility to work in shifts when on the rig site either on- or offshore.

Desirable

• Specific petroleum engineering qualifications;
• Previous experience in the Oil & Gas industry during practical years or holiday work.

Skills and Competencies

• Demonstrated communication skills;
• Fluency in Dutch and English (spoken and written)
• Good data management and computer literacy.

Working hours: Fulltime (100%)

Duration: 1 year staff contract with the possibility to extend

Location: The Hague (prepared to travel to Alkmaar when required)

Please note there are plans in place for the TAQA Energy Head Office to move to the Alkmaar region after completion of the Bergermeer project.
